THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME

Hi, my name is Jen O’Malley and I’m the CEO and Founder of Linen & Leah. Let me tell you a little bit about myself -- I’m a proud single mother of two amazing children with 20 years of experience working with kids.

I came up with the idea for Linen & Leah out of necessity. I operated a childcare facility where I was constantly walking around during naptime tucking in the corners of the Pack and Play sheets that the babies were sleeping on because I was worried about their safety.

The final straw came when the Department of Human Services came for a licensing renewal visit and told me I could no longer use the Pack and Play sheets I had purchased at Target or Babies ‘R Us because of safety risks. The officials told me the new sheets I bought the night before were too loose fitting and posed numerous safety concerns. At that moment, I knew I had to do something different.

After hearing that the sheets I was using were not safe I endlessly searched for an alternative, scouring Amazon, Walmart, and local boutiques. I ordered every fitted Pack and Play sheet on the market. Not a single sheet fits the mattress in a way that left me feeling confident. 

From there, I knew I had to take matters into my own hands. I had no idea how to sew but found myself grabbing scissors and thread. I even took an online sewing class. I altered the sheets I had bought until they fit perfectly, and guess what -  they worked! When DHS finally gave their approval of the sheets I altered, I knew I had something special and an idea was born. 

Every 15 minutes during nap time, I would go in and check on the babies, just as I had always done, but no longer did I have to tiptoe around the playards and tuck the sheet back into the corners of the mattress. Nor did I have to worry that the sheets were going to come off entirely. I knew the babies were sleeping in the ultimate safe sleep environment, and I had complete peace of mind. I thought to myself: why hadn’t sheets like this been around sooner!?

Linen & Leah sheets are made from 100% organic cotton. They fit securely to your playard mattress using an adjustable Velcro strap to stay in place no matter how much your baby pulls or tugs. These sheets were crafted with safety as the top priority.

I am so happy to offer parents and caregivers a safe sleeping option. This is something that is very important to me.

One last thing, since my name is Jen you’re probably wondering where the name Linen & Leah came from? I named Linen & Leah after my younger sister.
